One of my favorite sayings of the web 1.0 (circa 1999) was that eBay, Amazon, Pets.com, Webvan, eToys, DrKoop.com and more were the WalMarts of the internet.

If it was true then, it is no longer true now. In this web 2.0 era Walmart has truly proven that WalMart is the WalMart of the internet.

For the average shopper who is just looking for a fair price, you can not go wrong with WalMart. They have a new interactive interface that is easy to use and you get the added benefit of avoiding long lines. Not to mention they offer great seasonal gear of all kinds and huge MP3 store.

We received word that Starbucks will close down 600 US Stores this summer to see if they can improve their stock performance and bottom line results. I am not sure if all guys should be stocking their guy caves with Starbucks coffee. However, everyone has a man friend or 2 that can not get through their day without the bucks. These are usually the ones that wear mandles with socks. No matter which side you stand on that debate, Starbucks is definitely a great American business story and the coffee is good…start stocking up online if a store near you is drying up.
